Rotary Endodontics Root Canal
Rotary endodontics is a technology that helps make the root canal experience both comfortable and efficient for dental patients.
Advantages of Root Canal with Rotary Endodontics
- Faster treatment (often in one appointment);
- Patients feel much more comfortable during the treatment;
- More reliable;
- No unpleasant noises;
- More precision (the flexibility of instruments allows a better negotiation of curved canals);
- Higher quality treatments (more consistent).
Root Canal Therapy, AKA Endodontic Therapy
Endodontic therapy is the removal of the infected pulp from the inner root canals of the teeth that contain it. This infection can cause cracks in the enamel or trauma. After the infected pulp is removed, the root canals are cleaned, sealed, and protected by the placement of a dental crown.
This procedure has been performed by dental clinics for many years that has been used with electric hand tools since the 1990s. However, an advanced method of performing root canals was developed and is called rotary endodontics. This method uses a slow and steady rotation, these instruments are far more flexible and allow for a faster, more reliable, and more consistent treatment.
Rotary endodontics involved an electrically-powered instrument that performs the root canal treatment and replaces the traditional stainless-steel manual files.
The tip of the electric hand tool used is made out of nickel-titanium – a material that is five times more flexible than traditional stainless steel.
Rotary Endodontics made the procedure faster and more efficient because of the flexibility and unique movement of the nickel-titanium instrument. The instrument can be inserted deeply into a curved root canal without stretching or damaging the passageway.
